What this site is
PrivatePilot.aero is a free study aid for people preparing for the FAA private pilot knowledge test (written) and checkride oral. It offers topic guides, practice tools, and a suggested study path so you can review high-yield material at your own pace.
It is designed to complement — not replace — FAA publications, your flight school curriculum, and instruction from a certified flight instructor (CFI).

How we approach content
Study-aid pages are checked against current FAA publications (handbooks, ACS, and related primary sources) before they go live. An editor gate reviews education content prior to publish so wording stays aligned with those sources and avoids overclaiming readiness or outcomes.
We update material when FAA sources change or when readers flag an issue. If anything on this site conflicts with an official FAA document, the FAA document wins.
What we are not
- Not a flight school or Part 141/61 training provider
- Not a certified flight instructor (CFI) and not a substitute for dual instruction
- Not the FAA, and not affiliated with or endorsed by the FAA
- Not a guarantee of written-test or checkride results
